Delaware recertification requirements
Delaware EMTs are certified by the Delaware State Fire Prevention Commission on a two-year cycle that coincides with your NREMT card — every Delaware EMT must maintain National Registry certification, and recertification follows the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP). To recertify you must also be a member in good standing of a Delaware fire department, ambulance organization, or other Commission-recognized BLS provider, and complete a state and federal background check.
Paramedics are certified by the Delaware Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline through the Office of EMS. Recertification is every two years and follows National Registry (NCCP) requirements. Paramedics must keep current CPR, ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS (or BTLS-Advanced) cards without a lapse and remain employed by or affiliated with an OEMS-recognized advanced life support service.
