Wisconsin licenses run on a three-year cycle, and providers renew through the Wisconsin E-Licensing portal by completing one of three education options: hold current NREMT certification, complete a Wisconsin refresher course (EMR – 16, EMT – 40, AEMT – 50, Intermediate/Paramedic – 60 hours), or complete the equivalent hours of continuing education based on the Wisconsin curriculum. A CPR course at the health care professional level, completed within the last two years, is also required.

Wisconsin requires 2 hours of Weapons of Mass Destruction/Preparedness training as part of its continuing education renewal option. The state's free online WMD course is on TRAIN Wisconsin, course number 1047410, and the completion certificate counts toward the requirement.
